Stronglasas UAB is one of the market leaders in glass processing and tempering. Tempering and bending of glass in heating areas of furnaces requires maintenance of a very exact temperature, that in turn requires a huge amount of electricity – 7,721.081 MWh per year. Seeking to reduce production costs and emission of greenhouse gas, Stronglasas UAB is implementing a project ‘Implementation of a Solar Cell System for Production of Electricity for the Needs of Stronglasas UAB’ (project No. 04.2.1-LVPA-K-836-01-0033) in accordance with measure 04.2.1-LVPA-K-836 ‘Renewable Energy Sources for Industry LT+’ of priority 4 ‘Promoting Energy Efficiency and Production and Use of Renewable Energy Sources’ of the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments.
The aim of the project is to reduce the intensity of energy consumption in the company by increasing production and consumption of REC.
The project is partially funded from the European Regional Development Fund.
Having carried out an audit of the technological processes and energy consumption of the installations of Stronglasas UAB, an optimum amount of electricity generation was determined; as a result, a 1.0 MW solar photovoltaic power plant is going to be installed during the project, which will allow saving a significant portion of the yearly amount of energy required for the company and reducing emission of carbon dioxide by 612 tons a year.

Furthermore, Stronglasas UAB is implementing a project ‘Industrial Waste Water System of Stronglasas UAB’ (project No. LAAIF-P-52(2016)) in accordance with the 2016 financial policies of use of programme funds of the Lithuanian Environmental Protection Investment Fund. This project complies with the policies and priorities of conservation of natural resources of the European Union.
The aim of the project is to ensure balanced management of water resources by applying integrated and advanced as well as cost effective pollution prevention technologies.
